BEING WASHED AWAY by #climatechange that is what the Kiribati People fear. Their homes are barely above the ever rising #sealevel, but they are finding hope in #tuna….. Almost 70% of the entire Kiribati government revenue comes from tuna, it has risen from $27 million in 2008 to $160 million last year!
With that money the Kiribati people are working on an ambitious plan to dredge sand from inside lagoon of the ring-shaped atolls and raise the islands in the most populated areas to save their homes, secure water supplies and provide a safe and healthy future for their children.
